Goodbye Honda - Recalls More Than 720,000 Vehicles of This Utility Model - Failure Could Cause Fire While Driving

Neither Honda nor Mazda – Toyota dominates in 2025 and consolidates its position as the world’s best-selling brand for this reason

No more blindly taking your car to the repair shop every time the warning light comes on—learning to read the Check Engine light changes the way you take care of your car in the United States

It’s official—robotaxis are gaining ground in the United States, with Waymo leading the way and Tesla accelerating its commitment

Honda has just launched one of the largest recall campaigns in recent years in the United States, and although we know Honda always does everything right, a recall is a matter to take very seriously. No less than 720,000 vehicles from the years 2023–2025 will have to go through the workshop. The reason? A fault in the high-pressure fuel pump that can cause fuel leaks. And of course, that’s not something to take lightly: the risk of fire is real, and that’s why the brand has decided to act as soon as possible.

Well-known models like the Accord, the Civic, or the CR-V are on the list. And if you have one of them in your garage, stay with us because we’re going to tell you everything you need to know to clear things up.

What exactly happened?

It’s a serious fault in the fuel pump. According to Honda itself, it has been detected that this part can develop internal microcracks over time. You can’t see them at first glance, but with use they get bigger and can cause the fuel to leak out of the system. If that happens while driving, and there’s heat or a simple spark, things could end very badly. So far, there are no reported injuries or related accidents, but no one wants to be the first. So, good for Honda for getting ahead of the situation and wanting to fix it as soon as possible.

Which cars are affected?

Here’s the list of models that could have this issue:

  • Honda Accord and Accord Hybrid from the years 2023 and 2024
  • Honda Civic Sedan and Civic Sedan Hybrid from 2025
  • Honda CR-V Hybrid manufactured between 2023 and 2025 (which were already part of another recall campaign, we tell you more on that below)

So if your car is from those years and models, it’s worth keeping an eye on things.

Some already had problems…

That’s right. For example, the CR-Vs were already part of a recall campaign earlier this year due to problems with the power steering and the helical gear. Apparently, the steering wheel required more effort than normal, and that could cause the car not to respond as it should. So this new problem only adds fuel to the fire, putting Honda under the spotlight of many critics. Is Honda as reliable as it seems?

How do I know if my car is on the list?

Very easy. Starting in December, Honda will send notifications by mail to the owners of the affected vehicles. In that letter, they will explain step by step how to schedule an appointment at an official dealership so you can get your car checked, which, by the way, will be free for all users.

If any issue is detected, they will replace the pump also at no cost to the user.

If you’re one of those who can’t wait for the letter to arrive and want to know now if your vehicle is included in the recall, you can check right now on the official website: www.recalls.honda.com by entering your VIN number or providing all your vehicle’s information.

You can also call the toll-free customer service number: (888) 234-2138.

What happens if my car is on the list?

As soon as you receive the letter or see that your model is listed on the website, the best thing to do is schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Even though there haven’t been any incidents yet, it’s a defective fuel pump, and that’s synonymous with danger. Also, if a leak is detected, you won’t be allowed to continue driving the car until it’s repaired.

Don’t wait for the smell of gasoline or for the car to start having problems. In many cases, the cracks appear without warning and can get worse in a matter of days.

Don’t skip this inspection because there are many lives at risk, and Honda is doing its best to fix its mistakes!
