Social Security benefits millions of Americans every month, and for many, receiving notification that Social Security has entered the monthly payment is a key moment, since many families depend economically on this moment. However, this December brings an important change and we must be aware of it. Although this adjustment may seem confusing at first, the Social Security Administration has taken measures to ensure that all beneficiaries receive their money on time, without interruptions or complications. Here we will explain everything you need to know so that you are prepared!
When will the December payment arrive in our accounts?
Well, you see, it is very easy to find the information about the payment dates, likewise, we are going to leave it marked here so that you can access the annual SSA payment calendar, which is set at the beginning of each year with the objective that beneficiaries can write down the important dates for them. We also know that it is complicated and you can make mistakes finding the data that belongs to you because this calendar shows all the payments that are issued by the Administration.
The SSA sets how much it pays each beneficiary by establishing various categories, and in December, payments will arrive as follows:
- On the first day of each month, those who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will receive their payment
- On the third day of each month, those who depend on the Social Security Check will receive their payment.
- Lastly, those who belong to Old Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance who depend on the day of birth to receive their payment. Thus, the schedule for this sector of the population is as follows:
- On the second Wednesday of each month, those beneficiaries born between the 1st and the 10th of each month (regardless of the year) receive their payment
- On the third month of each month, those born between the 11th and the 20th of each month of any year will receive it
- And finally, on the fourth Wednesday of each month, those born in the last third of the month, from the 21st to the 31st of each month, will receive it.
So, when does my December payment have to arrive?
Well, if you are in the group that receives payments from the 1st to the 10th, you have already received your payment for this month, but if you are in the other groups, next Wednesday, the 18th, will be the day that the money will arrive in your bank account, and those who should receive it on the 25th, will not receive it on this day, but the payment will be advanced to the 24th (since the 25th is a national holiday). This is not a mistake, but rather the SSA does not want its payments to arrive late to its beneficiaries, so it issues the payment one day in advance so that it arrives on the same day and is not delayed due to federal holidays.
How much is coming this December?
