Kawasaki USA is facing a massive recall of one of its latest motorcycles: 3,400 KX 2025 models will have to go to the workshop to fix a serious technical failure in the primary gear of the crankshaft.
No accidents or injuries have been reported to date, thanks God, but Kawasaki has recommended to all users to stop using these motorcycles and go quickly to an authorized dealership of the brand to carry out a free repair and make riding these bikes as safe as possible again.
What is happening to these bikes?
The problem that has been identified is that the primary gear of the crankshaft fails, a part that transmits the engine power, and therefore, essential. In case of failure, it can completely block the vehicle causing the loss of control and therefore increasing the risk of accidents.
From the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Kawasaki, they detail that through the VIN of the vehicle (located on the right side of the bike and on the head pipe of the chassis) users can confirm if their vehicle is or is not included in this recall.
Which motorcycles are we talking about?
The affected vehicles are the KX450, XK450SR and KX450X models, the recall was announced last April 24 and from now on dealerships are accepting visits to correct the errors.
These are not just any motorcycles, they are designed for competition and cross-country use, the greenest lime ones on the market? Well, those are the ones!
But… from what dates are these bikes?
These motorcycles were sold at authorized Kawasaki dealerships nationwide from June 2024 to March 2025, with prices ranging between $10,500 and $13,600, if yours matches these data, get ready to visit the dealership.
Free repair
Of course, Kawasaki has informed owners that this repair will have no cost for their pockets, that they can contact their nearest Kawasaki dealer to have the defective gear replaced with a completely new one.
Where can I find more information?
It is not Kawasaki’s first recall
Although it may not seem related, Kawasaki has already faced this year a recall of more than 39,000 John Deere Ztrak lawnmowers equipped with their engines after it was discovered that they overheated and, therefore, had a risk of fire and serious burns.
Are recalls important?
Of course! Both for you as a user and for the brand to strengthen its safety controls. For us, of course, we do not like to hear that we have been using a vehicle that has been putting our lives at risk, even more when we talk about motorcycles, where our greatest protection in case of an accident is our own body; but this type of market recalls are an example that, although they sell us their vehicles and their products, they never stop testing them, always focusing on the safety of the customers, both those who have already purchased their products and those who are yet to receive them.
Safety is always, and for everyone, the most important thing we have. So, do not hesitate to take your Kawasaki to the nearest dealership you have to get that fixed. Do not put your life at risk any longer!
