Honda is launching its first electric motorcycle! The remarkable thing about this is that the Chinese company Wuyang and the Japanese Honda are teaming up to launch a product for urban mobility, an electric motorcycle. This motorcycle will be launched under the Honda name, but Wuyang company is collaborating on this project.
This partnership is very important and exciting, having in mind China and Japan’s experience in vehicle manufacturing and Honda’s international expertise. So, let’s see what Honda and Wuyang want to offer to the motorcycle industry with this new electric product.
Honda and Wuyang
Before diving into the details of the new electric motorcycle, let’s briefly explore the companies involved in this exciting project.
Honda Motor is a multinational Japanese company which manufactures cars, motorcycles, power equipment, robots and aircrafts. This company has a good reputation for its quality products.
The other company is Wuyang, this is a Chinese company focused on the local manufacturing and market. It is known for producing scooters, small motorcycles and electric two-wheelers.
What a collaboration!
Now, these companies are teaming up by bringing the best of each country. Honda has international expertise and Wuyang has specialist knowledge on local manufacturing, mostly the electric vehicle industry.
At first, this collaboration was a surprise, having in mind these two nations have been economically and technological rivals for so long. So, the fact that Honda and Wuyang are working together means a new powerful product is coming!

- Of course, it doesn’t use gasoline. So, it is joining the green engines manufacturing trend to contribute in a positive way to the environment.
- It is very quiet which is nice for the noise pollution. Iit so annoying when you are trying to sleep or just relax at home and, suddenly, a motorcycle drives through your house and it is so noisy. What a nightmare!
- This can reach up to 75 miles per hour, a very good speed considering it’s an electric motorcycle.
- You can fully charge it within 90 minutes and 2 hours, not much time having in mind it’s a vehicle.
- Its design is modern and retro at the same time, reminding the classic motorcycles of urban races with a modern touch. You can get it in black or off-white.
Are we prepared for this electric motorcycle?
Not so much. Many countries lack the necessary infrastructure, such as electric charging stations, special lanes, and supportive policies, to accommodate this technological innovation.
So, maybe we need to focus on infrastructures, so that electric vehicle owners can properly drive through most cities.
Future of urban mobility
Not everybody wants to own a car and they prefer a motorcycle for many reasons. They are much smaller and easier to drive, a good point for parking them. Also, motorcycles are cheaper which is a very attractive aspect for people who just want their own transport, not a fancy and unique vehicle.
