Pay attention to this recall. If you’re used to using Power Stick deodorants, take a look because the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ordered the recall of more than 67,000 roll-on deodorants from the brand due to manufacturing issues that have not yet been publicly detailed!! Weird. It’s not just cars that fail anymore, now it’s also our everyday products.

Let’s explain better, these deodorants have been distributed nationwide in stores like Walmart, Dollar Tree, and Amazon, and have been pulled for not complying with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Weird, weird…

What does the report say?

The official FDA report states that the affected batches include different versions of Power Stick deodorant, they are: “Power Fresh” “Spring Fresh” and “Invisible Protection Original Nourishing”.

The company responsible is A.P. Deauville, they informed about the decision to recall the products was made on July 10 after detecting problems in its production plant located in Pennsylvania.

This recall shows that everyday products must undergo even stricter quality controls than others, especially those that are ingested or applied directly to human skin!!

Thanks god, no incidents have been reported yet, but the fear that more products might fail to meet regulations is creating doubt and concern among buyers, specially in those who are more sensitive or have skin problems.

Which products have been recalled exactly?

The recall includes several specific batches of the three Power Stick deodorant varieties mentioned above. These batches are detailed in the FDA’s compliance report and include production codes ranging from March to November of last year.

But no, for now we don’t know exactly what the issue with these products is, although it’s believed to be formulation problems and not something truly dangerous for use.

A.P. Deauville: what do we know about the manufacturer?

A.P. Deauville is a company based in Easton, Pennsylvania, that produces not only deodorants but also shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, creams, and facial wipes. On its website, they claim to operate an FDA-regulated plant, which raises even more concerns about how defective products could have reached the market despite being under supervision. Isn’t that strange?

And of course, this won’t only affect that company, it could affect all the brands associated with this lab.

What should affected consumers do?

The FDA has not yet issued a direct health warning for those who have already used the recalled products. But they do recommend (and so do we) that people stop using the products included in the affected batches, especially if they have a strange or unusual smell or cause irritation.

Consumers can return the products to the stores where they were purchased or contact the company directly to request compensation.

It’s not the only recent case

What’s most concerning is that this isn’t an isolated case. In recent weeks, several similar alerts have popped up: yogurts with pieces of plastic, bread with undeclared ingredients… All of this points to a bigger problem with quality control in everyday products… And shows that we are clearly at risk.

So, should we be worried?

Ok, let’s let something clear: it doesn’t seem like the deodorant itself is dangerous (we are sure it isn’t, or at least it wouldn’t be harmful) at least not immediately. But the fact that it left the factory without meeting standards is more than enough to cause distrust. In the end, it’s our health at stake and consumers trust that what they buy has passed all the checks.

We need more transparency and oversight in these types of products. And yes, sometimes we have to read the labels and stay a little more alert.
