Do you want to smell like a “wad of dollars”? You’re lucky! Coach Green is the new sensation in men’s perfume with this smell. From now and then, we see new trends on social media that go viral and influence people around the world. This fragrance has been the latest product that many people have tasted due to a comment someone did on social media. So, let’s see if this is really true!

A ‘’wag of dollars’’ scent perfume

A very particular trend related to the world of perfumes went viral on social media: a scent that, according to some users, smells like a wad of dollar bills. This perception originated from a video by influencer Agus Correas, who described the perfume Coach Green as a fragrance that evokes the characteristic smell of cash.

Correas’ comment did not go unnoticed. Many users on social media began talking about the topic, driven by the idea that this perfume might have a scent associated with money, power, success, and status.

The concept is not new: the smell of money has fascinated both fragrance creators and consumers for years. In this case, although Coach Green was not created to smell like bills, the comparison was so suggestive that it generated a wave of curiosity and online searches.

What is the Coach Green perfume actually like?

Despite the viral comment, the perfume’s manufacturers clarified that this was not the original intent when developing the fragrance. According to the official description of Coach Green Eau de Toilette, the scent is inspired by green sanctuaries within the city, such as parks or urban gardens.

The fragrance opens with fresh and fruity notes of kiwi and bergamot, moves into an aromatic heart of rosemary and geranium, and finishes with a woody base of cedar and crystal moss. It is a green, woody, and sophisticated perfume, with a green gradient bottle and leather details, typical of the brand.

However, the influencer’s subjective perception—associating the scent with a wad of fresh bills—had a strong impact. Many users became interested in this fragrance precisely because of that unusual description, even if it is not technically accurate.

Fragrances that actually smell like money

Although Coach Green was not created with the intention of smelling like dollars, there are perfumes that were specifically developed to replicate the smell of money. Among them are:

  • Folding Money Cologne Spray, by the brand Demeter Fragrance Library: this fragrance was made from shredded new U.S. bills, with the goal of capturing the exact essence of banknotes.
  • Liquid Money, launched in 2011 by Patrick McCarthy: this fragrance was developed in collaboration with perfumer Larry Murrison to create a scent that would enhance productivity and the sense of personal power. According to McCarthy, each bottle contains the essence of approximately 500 dollars in shredded bills.

These creations are based on studies of the actual smell of bills. Chemist Marc vom Ende, from the fragrance house Symrise AG, explained that the smell of the dollar changes over time. When bills are freshly released from the bank, they smell like a mix of fresh ink and cotton. But after passing through many hands and places, the smell evolves into more metallic, earthy, and greasy notes.

The power of social media

This phenomenon shows how a simple comment on social media can influence a lot on people’s perception of a product. Although Coach Green was not conceived as a perfume with a money scent, the impact of Correas’ description led many to seek it out with that expectation in mind.

The connection between fragrances and emotions or symbols—such as money—is strong. In this case, the desire to have a scent that recalls economic success has captured the attention of both perfume enthusiasts and curious people looking for something different. Would you like to smell like money?
