Ford unveils an EV platform that promises to revolutionize its range just as the Model T transformed the industry a century ago

No more blindly taking your car to the repair shop every time the warning light comes on—learning to read the Check Engine light changes the way you take care of your car in the United States

It’s official—robotaxis are gaining ground in the United States, with Waymo leading the way and Tesla accelerating its commitment

No more registering your car as a classic in Maryland—the state is putting the brakes on thousands of drivers with much stricter criteria

Ford has been the center of rumors for months, and now they have confirmed what many already suspected: they are working on a new electric platform, designed to make vehicles more profitable to produce and much cheaper for buyers.

They want to repeat the effect of the Model T but now electric, like the future itself, and the first model that will come out of this new base will be a mid-size pickup aimed directly at the 30,000 dollar segment. If everything goes as planned, we’ll see it in 2027, very very soon.

Why bet on this now?

Think about it for a moment, the market is what it is, and it’s fast and fierce. Chinese manufacturers are pushing hard with very aggressive prices, and Ford doesn’t want to fall behind. But the curious thing is that this move is not just about competing: the brand sees it as a historic moment, a sort of “new Ford T”, only adapted to the electric and digital era, but appealing to the best of the brand, as always.

Ford is going all in

The company believes that this new universal electric platform is their big bet to change the rules of the game, just like they did more than a century ago with the car that put half the world on wheels.

The plan? Use a single base to create an entire family of electric cars. From compacts to SUVs, vans, and pickups. All with the same architecture, which allows cutting down times, reducing costs, and simplifying the entire production process. It’s a very smart move.

Competing against Chinese prices

Innovation, yes, but it’s also about survival. Anyone can see that BYD, MG, and other brands are already selling EVs at prices that Western manufacturers can’t match, and Ford knows that if it wants to stand up to them, it has to offer something just as attractive.

That’s why the 30,000 dollar pickup is not a whim. It’s priced low enough to attract both individuals and businesses, and with the potential to sell well in the United States and other major markets. Ford has thought it all through!

Without sacrificing space or power

Ford promises that the cars built with this platform will not lose interior space compared to current combustion models. That’s important, because many users still associate electric cars with “less trunk” or “less room” nonsense!

Since it will be a software-defined platform, the cars will be able to receive improvements and new features over time. More range, new assistance systems, improved connectivity… The usual things that used to require a visit to the workshop will now arrive through a remote update.

The beginning of the change

It’s not just a base for cars. Ford wants this platform to be the heart of an entire ecosystem. From integrated charging options to digital tools to control the car from the phone. Everything simpler, more efficient, and more connected.

And since the launch won’t be until 2027, they have time to perfect it, see where Tesla, Rivian, and others are going, and arrive with something solid that truly competes.

Can it work?

If Ford manages to launch this platform with competitive vehicles, accessible prices, and without compromising space or performance, we’ll be looking at a turning point. Something similar to what the Model T meant in its time, but with batteries and touchscreens instead of carburetors and rods.

Now the question is different: will the market (and the charging network) be ready to receive what Ford is about to launch?
