Ford is caught up in the middle of a recall (no matter when you read this), but this recall is especially big because it’s one of the largest vehicle withdrawals in recent years for the brand (and that’s saying a lot).

It’s about more than 355,000 trucks and pickups due to problems in the dashboard screen, it’s not a very serious error but we already know that the NHTSA doesn’t want vehicles on the road that may have any kind of error, and that’s why it launched the recall.

What vehicles are included?

This recall affects Ford F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 models from 2025 and 2026, and also the F-150 from 2025.

As we told you, the fault is in the digital dashboard screen, that panel shows speed, fuel or if there is any warning light on, but according to the NHTSA, there are occasions when that screen shows nothing when the vehicle starts. And it can lead the driver to get confused with key data right at the moment of starting the vehicle.

Ford has already confirmed that the fault comes from the software and that it will provide a solution and it will be free. Users will be able to go to the dealership or do an online update to fix this defect.

Brake fluid leak risk in Edge and Lincoln MKX

The other recall is just as worrying and just as big. It affects almost 500,000 vehicles: Ford Edge manufactured between 2015 and 2018, and Lincoln MKX from 2016 to 2018.

In these models, the brake system hose can break and cause brake fluid leakage.

The consequence is direct on the car, which needs more distance to stop. If we transfer that to an emergency situation… it could be a catastrophe.

Ford has said that there are no accidents or injuries related to this problem (for now), but as we told you, for NHTSA the risk is real and the repair cannot wait any longer, that’s why they decided to issue the recall on August 28.

Ford doesn’t stop… calling recalls

Ford is having problems this year, and there are more than 100 recalls it has had to issue since 2024, some less notorious, but certainly a dark chapter for the American brand.

  • 213,000 vehicles with problems in the taillights.
  • More than 100,000 units at risk of the airbag tearing during deployment.

All this reflects something we’ve been seeing for a while: as cars become more complex and technological, they also become more vulnerable to failures. And manufacturers have to be more attentive than ever.

What should you do if your car is among those affected?

Ford will notify owners directly, but you don’t have to wait for the letter. You can check right now if your vehicle is included by entering the VIN number (that long code that comes on the car’s papers) on Ford’s official website or in the NHTSA database.

If your model is affected, the repair will be completely free (of course). If it’s a part replacement or a simple software update, you shouldn’t pay anything, understood? And beware: ignoring the notice can cause problems in future inspections. In addition to the obvious risk to your safety.

This massive recall is another example of how easy it is for a software failure or a poorly manufactured part to jeopardize hundreds of thousands of drivers. Ford has promised to act quickly and cover all costs, but the magnitude of the withdrawal makes you wonder if they’ll be able to handle a recall like this. If you have one of these models, the best thing you can do is schedule an appointment as soon as possible and clear up any doubts!
