Say Goodbye to security checks as you knew them in the United States—the TSA is introducing a key change at 50 airports starting in 2026

WhatsApp has a new update!! Finally! But relax, it’s not changing anything big, just something that was necessary (at least, for us!) It just launched a new feature called @everyone, which lets you mention everyone in a chat at once (you can finally forget about tagging people one by one, now you can do it all at the same time!). We all know how useful this tool is for those of you in groups with too many people talking at once, right?

Goodbye to “did everyone read it?”

Just type “@” and, instead of the usual endless list of contacts, you’ll now see the option @everyone. That way, your message will notify all group members without having to tap each name one by one. But be careful, because WhatsApp has added some rules to avoid chaos (thanks god):

  • In small groups (up to 30 people), anyone can use @everyone.
  • In large groups (+50 people), only admins can do it, so there’s no flood of unnecessary notifications driving everyone crazy!!

Perfect for groups where nobody reads anything

You probably have one of those groups too, full of memes, silly voice notes, and endless stickers…, where every now and then an important message appears. Of course, many people miss that important message.

This @ is perfect for family groups, work chats, classes, or even school parent groups (yes, those where everything gets mixed between congratulations and last-minute questions about what color paperboard to bring…)

Being able to send “@everyone, tomorrow at 8” and knowing no one can say they didn’t see it, wow, what a power! It feels like magic, doesn’t it?

Notifications under control

And if you’re already dreading getting more notifications, wait—WhatsApp also added the option to mute that @ (why though? we don’t know), but you’ll be able to mute it even if the group is active.

So, if you muted the group, not even global messages will disturb your mindfulness unless you decide otherwise. Each user can adjust this however they want, so no drama.

Designed to keep balance

Some groups can get complicated, and this feature is designed to respect everyone’s personal space. In small groups, it might not be a big deal, but in large ones… things change and you know. That’s why the @everyone function will be your favourite key!

First on Android, coming soon to iPhone

The feature began testing in the beta version 2.25.26.3 for Android and is now active for some users on version 2.25.31.9. Meta confirmed that the rollout will come to Android first, then iOS, and later a global release.

So if you don’t see it yet, be patient. It’s on the way!

The missing feature

Other platforms like Telegram or Slack already had something similar, but WhatsApp is implementing it in a more controlled and practical way.

Next time you want to make sure everyone reads your message, there’s no need to shout in all caps or miss the famous old Messenger nudge (ah, those were the days, right?). Now you just have to type @everyone… and that’s it, attention guaranteed!
