Can you imagine not losing your suitcases at the airport? This is more common than we think in air transport. However, there is one country that is an exception, Japan. The Japanese efficiency is showing again that the rest of the world is doing it wrong. We don’t know what’s the key element behind that success on baggage loss, it could be their workers, their logistics system or maybe the technology.

What we know is that this Japanese airport hasn’t lost any luggage for 30 years. If you travel a lot or you are thinking about travelling, this article will be interesting for you because it means no more plastic wrapping oour suitcases. Let’s see why Japan is the leader on this airport issue.

A special airport

Losing our suitcases is a fear every traveler has, but not if you go to Japan. There is one specific airport in Japan that has achieved the difficult task of not losing any suitcase for 30 years! Can you imagine? We would be way more relaxed than usual if this was a common thing around the world.

This airport should be seen as a role model for the rest of the world because the experience of travelling would be way more satisfying and we would avoid those delays for looking for our suitcases. Don’t you think so?

The place where they don’t lose your luggage

This unbelievable place is Osaka, a Japanese city. However, this airport is built on an artificial island, made with the intention of being used for the airport purposes. It all started in 1994 and it has been receiving between 20 and 30 million travelers per year.

It is obvious that they have even received an award for their excellent service. I mean, having in mind millions of people go to that airport every year… how many suitcases that must be!

How do they do it?

I’m sure other airports are wondering what’s the secret behind this success, and I bet you do too. Well, it’s not just one reason, so let’s dive into them now.

Japanese people are known for their efficiency, their culture is focused on taking their jobs seriously and that’s why they work with so much respect and responsibility. This added to the many training they receive, so that they are prepared in advance for situations they might encounter at airports is key.

More reasons for this awarded action is their technology. They are also known for their highly advanced technology and that’s what they use at airports. You can find automatic machines and sensors to classify suitcases.

This unique place might disappear

I know you might be interested in going to this airport now just to see how this works, but I’m afraid you need to hurry. Something horrible is happening… the artificial island is sinking!

This risk was already taken into account by the architects, but they didn’t expect it to happen yet. It is thought the island will be difficult to repair because of its structure and the expensive cost, although Japan is known for being creative and working with precision.

It would be a shame to lose this fantastic and well organized airport where millions of people could happily have their luggage back with no trouble. We don’t know if it will end up sunk, but if this is its ending let’s hope other airports around the world take notes and copy this Japanese system. That would make our trips much happier.

Wouldn’t you like to go to a foreign country and feel safe when it comes to your belongings? It isn’t nice the feeling of being stolen or that someone lost your personal stuff.
