Goodbye to BMW - Recalls more than 250,000 affected vehicles for multiple defective parts that seriously jeopardize the safety of owners

Goodbye to the limits of creativity – the 10 most hated cars in the world – BMW, Nissan, Pontiac, and Tesla among them

Neither Honda nor Mazda – Toyota dominates in 2025 and consolidates its position as the world’s best-selling brand for this reason

No more blindly taking your car to the repair shop every time the warning light comes on—learning to read the Check Engine light changes the way you take care of your car in the United States

BMW is under scrutiny after issuing a new recall in the United States!! Luckily, only 270 vehicles have been affected in the country, but the overall figure is much higher… And worst of all, this recall comes after it was discovered that this recall already came from another recall in which the spare parts were not sufficient to correct the defect!! A real scandal.

What fault were we talking about?

The fault was first identified at the BMW plant in Shenyang, China, in July 2024, during routine quality checks. Now, BMW faces the difficult task of correcting the problem, and even more so, of restoring the confidence of its customers, which may take a little longer.

And what is the fault now?

First of all, a fault in the welding of the brake booster. We explain, this defect lies in the welding of a key component of the brake system, specifically in the booster that controls the pressure on the brake pads. This problem affects vehicles equipped with the brake-by-wire system, a technology that replaces traditional hydraulic systems with electronic impulses.

What could cause this fault?

The welding fault could cause the emergency braking system to malfunction, increasing the risk of accidents!! In case the problem occurs while driving, the vehicle will display a warning message on the dashboard and switch to a safe mode that allows driving to continue, but with greater resistance on the brake pedal and longer braking distances.

Which vehicles are included in the recall?

The BMW recall includes models from 2023 to 2025, including:

  • BMW 5 Series and i5
  • BMW 7 Series and i7
  • BMW X1, X2, X5, X6, X7
  • BMW XM (its most luxurious and powerful SUV)

If you own one of these models… pay attention to BMW’s notifications.

This is not the first time BMW has faced a recall

That’s right, already in 2024, the German brand had been forced to recall 76,000 vehicles for similar brake defects. It seems that brakes are not what BMW is best at, because that recall ultimately affected 278,000 vehicles…

But that’s not all, BMW has also had to recall another 1.5 million vehicles for electrical problems… At a cost of 1.1 billion dollars for the car company.

Continental AG: guilty

So yes, Continental AG is at the centre of the controversy, but what is Continental AG? Well, the company that supplies the brakes, although for its part it maintains that the parts were delivered according to BMW’s specifications. But it is clear that the safety standards were not at all sufficient

What do I do with my BMW?

First of all, check if your vehicle is involved in this recall. If so, call your nearest dealer or official workshop and schedule an appointment for your vehicle to undergo a thorough inspection. If they find any faults in your vehicle, they will cover the costs (of course!).

2024 has been a very difficult year for the future of BMW, and so many consecutive recalls have affected its reputation in terms of consumer reliability, and of course, its financial situation.

Although the brand continues to lead the premium segment, customers still have doubts about the safety of these vehicles. BMW will have to redouble its efforts to regain the trust of its users. Of course, it is admirable how quickly BMW has taken steps to fix this defect.
