BMW is one of the most desired brands on the market, you know it and we know it. And more precisely, the M4 model is one of the most desired sports cars, a car that combines power with the brand’s most advanced technology. Its price can easily exceed $120,000, but not even all that luxury has prevented some owners from feeling frustrated with a surprising detail: there is no traditional “P” (Park) button in its transmission. Whaaaat?! That’s right!

A content creator known as Tiger Trades, usually dedicated to the world of cryptocurrencies, sparked controversy on TikTok by asking how you are supposed to park a vehicle of this category. Oops, the question!! His complaint went viral and reopened a debate among the brand’s fans: is it a design flaw or simply a change of concept?

The TikTok controversy that changed everything

Tiger Trades (@tradertigers) posted a video where he pointed out the absence of a parking button in his 2025 BMW M4, and he looked very upset… In the clip he said that he only saw options for reverse, neutral and drive, and that it was uncomfortable not being able to put the car in “park” while it was running.

The complaint went viral and thousands of users shared their own experiences with this vehicle’s transmission. How is it possible that the M4 does not have this option for the car it is?

Among the comments there was a bit of everything, some supported him, while others mocked him saying it was a “skill issue” meaning he should learn to drive properly!

How do you park a BMW M4?

It is not a factory error, the absence of the “P” button is a design decision tied to its dual-clutch transmission (DCT). According to the brand’s own instructions.

But that does not mean parking this car is hell, it has its trick and BMW itself explains it!!

“As soon as you put on the handbrake and turn it into N, the car parks. It’s just a way to differentiate between DCT and regular automatic” wrote one user in the video.

First, the driver must bring the vehicle to a complete stop and keep the brake pressed. Then, the electronic parking brake is activated (located on the central control). By pressing the START/STOP button to turn off the engine, the transmission automatically shifts into “Park” mode, which is shown on the dashboard with the letter P. But there is no button as such for it.

“What an idiot! How could you not know how to park your car?” wrote another user…

Innovative design or frustration?

What for BMW is a way of maintaining the purity of a sports car, for some drivers is a step backward in usability. The controversy shows how high-end car manufacturers must balance between tradition, innovation and user comfort, and for some this last one does not exist…

Maybe this “lack” is what makes this vehicle so exclusive. Is it a dilemma? Yes. Is it special? Also! BMW has gone for an innovative design with which it aims to differentiate itself from the rest of vehicles, but maybe… not all users are ready to park this way! And you, what do you think? Luxury or inconvenience?
