August is here and with it we already know what’s coming: new payments from the Social Security Administration (SSA). SSA and SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) payments are already on the way, so let’s take a look together at the payment calendar so you don’t miss the date you’re supposed to receive your money!

What is the SSA?

Social Security, the one that protects you financially when you decide to hang up your work clothes for good (because you deserve it, let’s be honest!) or the one that looks after you when you have a disability that prevents you from working as usual. It covers at least 68 million people across the country, so we have to take care of it and, above all, know what payment you’re getting!

SSDI payment dates in August 2025

Let’s break it down. SSDI is the payment sent to people who have worked and contributed to the SSA for a set period of time and now, for whatever reason, can no longer work (whether for a month, a year, or indefinitely).

As happens every month, the SSA splits SSDI payments into three groups, based on the beneficiary’s birth date. This allows for a more organized and predictable distribution of the funds. The dates for this month are the following:

  • On August 14 you will receive your payment if you were born between the 1st and the 10th of any month. This group is always the first to receive the payment.
  • For those born between the 11th and the 20th, the deposit will be made on Wednesday, August 21. This is the second round of the month, so if you don’t see the payment before that date, there’s no reason to worry.
  • Finally, if your birthday falls between the 21st and the 31st, your payment will arrive on Wednesday, August 28. This is the last group scheduled by the SSA for this month.

And what if you’ve been receiving SSDI since before 1997?

There is an important exception. If you started receiving SSDI benefits before May 1997, or if you also receive SSI (Supplemental Security Income), your deposit will be made on Friday, August 2, regardless of your date of birth, and it will always be like that!

What to do if the deposit doesn’t arrive?

The SSA recommends waiting three business days after the scheduled date before getting worried. If you still haven’t received your payment, you can:

  • Contact your local office. Go to your nearest Social Security office. They can check if there was a specific error or delay with your case.
  • You can also go to the Social Security Administration website and check the status of your payment in real time using your personal account.
  • Stay calm, but don’t wait much longer than those three days to make sure you can get through the whole month.

The importance of staying updated

One of the most common mistakes that can delay your SSDI deposit is having outdated information. If you changed your bank, phone number or address, make sure to update your information as soon as possible. That way you’ll avoid unpleasant surprises like these!

The month of August is fully organized for SSDI payments. Let’s remember, remember that you can check these dates on the official SSA calendar, but here’s a quick summary anyway!:

  • August 2: if you receive SSDI from before 1997 or also SSI
  • August 14: born between the 1st and the 10th
  • August 21: born between the 11th and the 20th
  • August 28: born between the 21st and the 31st

Now go plan and enjoy that check! Enjoy your August!
