A man bought a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for $76,980 and put it up for sale just 10 miles after taking it out of the dealership… Weird? Yes. Unexpected? Also… Many people didn’t understand why he made that move, but the truth is that this 2024 model, with a six-speed manual transmission and finished in Nitro Yellow Metallic, is not just any car: only 24 units were made in that colour. Practically a collector’s car. Now it makes more sense, right?
Why would someone sell a Camaro ZL1 like that?
Everything points to the original buyer just wanting to make money with this vehicle. He bought it for almost $77,000 and shortly after auctioned it for about $80,000. Did it go well for him? It seems so, but the curious thing is that this car has all the potential to be worth six figures in a few years, especially if inflation keeps going like this. That’s what happens with “rare” cars that attract attention, as time goes by, they become more and more valuable, almost like what happens with diamonds.
The most wanted Camaro
The ZL1 is the most sought-after version of the sixth generation of the model, which stopped being produced last December. Even so, there are still some new units available in the second-hand market, being like an oasis in the middle of the desert: a true diamond.
This ZL1 comes with an LT4 V8 6.2-liter engine that delivers 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. If you hit the pedal hard, it goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and covers the quarter mile in 11.4 seconds at over 200 km/h. All that power and adrenaline goes straight to the rear wheels thanks to the electronic limited-slip differential.
The design says it all
Besides the eye-catching colour, which is not just any colour, it’s Nitro Yellow Metallic, this Camaro comes with a sunroof, black details on the hood, a rear spoiler, HID headlights and 20-inch wheels in dark graphite fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires (285 at the front, 305 at the back). Basically, everything a true muscle car fan loves.
Inside, it has Jet Black leather upholstery with microfiber details and red stitching, plus a head-up display, rear camera, climate control, wireless charging and a long list of gadgets.
Can a better ZL1 be found?
Maybe yes, but it would be hard to find one in this colour and with such low mileage, because, as we said, there aren’t many of them on the road. Still, if you want to go further, you can look for a collector’s version or a special Garage 56 edition, of which only 56 units were made. One of them was sold for $202,000 a few months ago… As you can see, the world of collecting never stops!
What’s special about this car?
Since the Camaro’s production end was announced, the ZL1 has become a gem for collectors. It’s exclusive, powerful and has the soul of a classic. And in the specific case of this unit, which has only gone 10 miles, we’re talking about a practically brand-new car. It wouldn’t be surprising to see it for sale again in a few years for twice its current value.
