Goodbye to the limits of creativity – the 10 most hated cars in the world – BMW, Nissan, Pontiac, and Tesla among them

Neither Honda nor Mazda – Toyota dominates in 2025 and consolidates its position as the world’s best-selling brand for this reason

No more blindly taking your car to the repair shop every time the warning light comes on—learning to read the Check Engine light changes the way you take care of your car in the United States

Are you over 50 and worried (or bored) about having to constantly renew your driver’s license? It’s the law, but now in places like Veracruz, Mexico, there’s an option that lets you forget about this process and about the payments every three years: the permanent driver’s license. Sound familiar? Here’s everything you need to know about it! Forget about renewing your license for life!

New license for those over 50

Who wouldn’t want a lifetime license? It means no more renewing every so often, much easier for everyone, no wasted time at the office and no spending money on each renewal…

But that’s over, the permanent license erases all that from our future once we turn 50! Much more convenient and relaxing for those who have been faithfully paying for their renewals for years.

Is there an age limit?

Of course, if we’re saying it’s for those over 50, the minimum you need to apply for it is 50! Although anyone over 18 can get a driver’s license, the permanent one is automatically granted to drivers over 50 in Veracruz.

And if I already renewed?

Well, you can exchange your license for a permanent one if you renewed in January and February of this year, and it won’t cost you anything!

Are there benefits to this?

Of course, for users it means economic (and time) savings, especially considering the renewal costs (which depend on the type of license you have). Here are the numbers:

  • Type A (public passenger transport):
    • New: $2345 MXN (about $138 USD)
    • Renewal: $1242 MXN (around $73 USD)
    • Course: $276 MXN (around $16 USD)
  • Type B (cargo and private transport):
    • New: $2207 MXN (about $130 USD)
    • Renewal: $1104 MXN (around $65 USD)
  • Type C (private service up to 3.5 tons):
    • New: $1931 MXN (around $113 USD)
    • Renewal: $966 MXN (around $57 USD)
  • Type D (2 or 3 wheel vehicles and ATVs):
    • New: $1380 MXN (around $81 USD)
    • Renewal: $828 MXN (around $49 USD)
  • Type P (permit for minors under 18 and foreigners):
    • $1104 MXN (about $65 USD)
  • Duplicate for theft or loss: $552 MXN (around $32 USD)

But for permanent licenses for those over 50, the numbers are:

  • Type A: $2070 MXN (about $122 USD)
  • Type B: $1932 MXN (around $114 USD)
  • Type C: $1656 MXN (around $97 USD)
  • Type D: $1380 MXN (about $81 USD)

How do I apply?

You can go to any service module of the Veracruz State Government, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We recommend arriving early to avoid lines.

What do I need?

You’ll need your documents and proof of payment. In some places they might ask for a medical evaluation, but generally, just your documentation!

In what other states does this option exist?

For now, Veracruz is one of the few that has put this measure in place, but we hope it’s implemented soon in other places because we think it’s a great idea!

So, if you’re already over 50 or just turned 50, this is the sign you need to forget about renewing your driver’s license for the rest of your life! More convenience, less money… doesn’t that sound ideal? Let us know in the comments!
