In a country where fast food and processed options dominate the food scene, schools, and society in general, eating healthy has become a real challenge. The United States is the birthplace of fast food, ultra-processed snacks, and giant portions, and while it’s easy to give in to temptation, the impact on health is undeniable. Obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular problems are increasingly common among our residents, and the key to curbing them lies in what we put on our plates every day.
It’s not about living on salads or giving up what we love most, but rather finding the balance between flavour and nutrition. And that’s where recipes like these oatmeal and chocolate bars we bring you today come in. With them, we want to show you that eating well doesn’t mean sacrificing pleasure!
Quick, delicious… and no-bake!
This is the recipe we bring you today, a quick and easy dessert or snack. These are oat and chocolate bars, which perfectly combine flavour, creaminess, and crunch. They take less than 15 minutes to prepare and only require 5 ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. We promise you’ll love this recipe.
Ingredients for the bars
- Oats, for the crunchy base
- Butter for the texture
- Brown sugar or another type of sweetener
- Dark chocolate
- Peanut butter
This combination, we assure you, tastes heavenly!
How do I prepare it?
Here are the steps; it’s very simple and there’s no mess.
- Prepare the base by melting the butter in a saucepan and adding the brown sugar. Stir until everything is completely combined. Once the batter is made, add the oats until they are completely coated with the butter.
- Melt the peanuts in the peanut butter. Slow heat is preferable, although if you’re in a hurry, the microwave always comes in handy. You want a smooth, creamy texture.
- Now, it’s time to get creative: pour half of the oat mixture onto a baking pan lined with wax paper and press it down to form a firm base, like the base of a cheesecake, but with oats. Once you’ve prepared it, pour in the chocolate and peanut butter mixture and top it with the remaining oats.
- Refrigerate the pan for at least an hour until all the ingredients are firm and cold.
- After refrigerating, cut into portions and get ready to enjoy this delicious and healthy snack.
Reasons to make these oat bars:
- They’re delicious (do you really need more reasons?)
- You don’t need to use the oven, and if you’re in a hurry, you don’t need a flame either, just the microwave.
- They’re super quick to make.
- You only need 5 ingredients and you can skip the sugar.
- They’re crunchy and creamy, yum!
- They’re energizing and have a very low calorie content.
