Traveling in autumn has its charm, and now Tennessee has become the favorite destination to enjoy it in our country. Autumn, oh autumn, warm colors, the cold begins, the crunch of leaves when you step on them… We love traveling in autumn and discovering how cities turn orange, but there is one place in our country that steals all the attention.
We are talking about Tennessee, this state that usually goes unnoticed has earned with much effort the title of star destination to enjoy autumn landscapes, think about it, an incredible city, those orange tones… And southern hospitality, what more could you ask for?
Tennessee, an unknown paradise
Not only in this season, always! But autumn is special. The charm of Tennessee in this season is not limited only to the beauty of trees dyed red, orange and gold. Here, visitors also find live music, authentic gastronomy, festivals and historical routes that make the experience even more incredible!
Great Smoky Mountains: the heart of the foliage
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is considered the epicenter of autumn in Tennessee. Maybe it is because it is the most visited national park in the country, or maybe because it offers a natural spectacle with hundreds of species of trees that change color throughout the season and it is something incredible, if you have not visited yet, add it to your to do list.
We recommend trails like Rainbow Falls or viewpoints like Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook, where there are unique panoramic views. In addition to the landscapes, the park is famous for its biodiversity: from deer and elk to more than 1,900 black bears and 30 species of salamanders!
Nashville: music, culture and autumn colors
The capital of Tennessee, Nashville, is not far behind in beauty, it is the “Music City,” and in autumn it offers milder weather and streets adorned with golden leaves along the Cumberland River, it is beautiful!
There you can enjoy live concerts, rooftop bars chill out style, harvest festivals and the incredible neighborhoods 12 South and East Nashville! And we have not even talked about the gastronomy of this city, southern food… what a delight!
Natchez Trace Parkway
If what you want is to hit the pedal, we recommend traveling the Natchez Trace Parkway, a historic route of 444 miles that connects Nashville with Mississippi. In October, this area becomes a tunnel of multicolored leaves, in addition to being a road full of history, once used by indigenous peoples, settlers and soldiers! There we cannot avoid recommending the Loveless Café, try their homemade biscuits, you will never have tried ones so delicious!
Leiper’s Fork and Townsend
And if you want to complete your trip, you have to visit Leiper’s Fork, a village of barely 650 inhabitants that combines art galleries, charming cafés and antique shops. Here, life is enjoyed calmly and that is a privilege in the United States!
Another place we recommend is Townsend, near Gatlinburg. This town, with only 550 residents, offers an experience with festivals, Appalachian cuisine and places like the Tuckaleechee Caverns, perfect for those looking for a different touch on their getaway!
Tennessee, the destination that has it all
Autumn in Tennessee is much more than colorful landscapes, it is nature, culture, gastronomy and tradition that makes the state the perfect place to live a complete experience, and without leaving the country! National tourism has it all! Mountains, roads, places to forget the world… Have you packed your suitcase to head to Tennessee this autumn!
