If you dreamed of travelling in a flying car when you were a child, you should know that the future is closer than ever! It is no longer just science fiction! As you may already know, the world of mobility never stops innovating, and now it has come to the idea of wanting to present flying cars. We are not going crazy, they will be the first car that does not have conventional wings. Below we are going to tell you everything we know about this new model!

What company is behind these cars?

We are talking about the Chinese company XPeng, through a subsidiary called Xpeng Aero HD, they have developed a vehicle that is capable of taking off and landing vertically. Much further from the concept of a flying car, it does not have wings or wheels, but a vertical landing system highlighted as eVTOL that will allow air mobility with ease.

This design has been in development for more than 10 years but its great advances have now arrived, which indicates that it will very soon be available to the public.

What do we know about this vehicle?

We know that it has been called “LandAircraft Carrier” and that it shares elements with the electric vehicles manufactured by the same brand (last March they were granted the airworthiness certificate by the Civil Aviation Administration of Central and Southern China), and it will compete strongly against the CEO Jet (another similar flying vehicle).

When can we see it in action?

If everything goes according to plan, next November it will be presented at the 16th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, where it is expected to make manned vehicles in front of the public, but, in the meantime, tests have been carried out privately.

The presentation

In this private presentation the car arrived rolling like any other vehicle. But when positioned in front of the camera, and as if it were film art, it deployed the eVTOL that it carried in its trunk and rose using an innovative multi-rotor with several blades.

Various maneuvers were tested (such as stopping in the air like a helicopter) and some other things, the best of all is that the expected results considered this invention to be a complete success and that it is ready for production and subsequent commercialization!

How does this car fly?

With the propeller system it can ascend in a spiral, stay suspended in the air, accelerate in the air at different heights and land with precision.

Is it difficult to pilot it?

No! The presentation we are talking about was made by an autopilot so as crew members you must program your route and the rest will be done by the vehicle. It also has a manual joystick to control it and they assure that 3 hours of continuous practice are enough to know how to handle it perfectly.

Can it be purchased in any country?

Not for now. It will only be possible to fly in China as the regulations in other countries are not yet prepared for this type of vehicle.

How much will the flying car cost?

The price of this innovative vehicle is expected to be around $280,740, which puts it in an affordable range compared to other personal air transport alternatives, and mass production is expected to begin in 2026.

If you ever dreamed of a flying car in the middle of your city like in some science fiction movie, in the next few years we will be one step closer to taking off into the future! Are you nervous?
