Google has a new app to control your smart devices! Nowadays there are many advances when it comes to our homes, but the most relevant and popular is smart devices for our homes. They are created to give us comfort at our places, allowing us to control the environment, light and security from our smartphones.
They are cheaper than years before and we don’t need to use a different app for each brand. Here we’ll have a look at what Google has developed and if it’s as useful as they say. So, let’s get into it!
Google Home
It’s more common to see in our houses more smart devices capable of controlling light bulbs, plugs, thermostats or even cameras, and that’s why Google has decided to join the game with Google Home. This is a free app, which is already installed in Android smartphones, and allows you to control all smart devices from just one place. The remarkable thing about Google Home is that different brand products can work unified in the same app, as long as they are compatible with Matter or Google Home.
Artificial Intelligence
Google is trying to be as up to date as possible and, what’s something that can be seen mostly everywhere? Artificial Intelligence. At some point, we all have used AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Google Home is another one because it is compatible with Gemini, the new Google AI assistant. Now, you will be able to use voice commands like: ‘’Switch off the living room lights’’ or ‘’raise the thermostat temperature’’. Gemini will interpret your order and will execute it on the registered devices.
Organization
Google Home allows you to register every device and organize them according to the rooms in your house. So, the control will be faster and less confusing in case you have several devices in the same room.
Do you have more than one house? Don’t worry, the app will allow you to have several houses registered in the same account. Both houses could be controlled from Google Home and you could share the access with whoever you want.
Any limits?
Everything is not perfect, so I’m afraid it has… The app won’t let you use all the options on some devices, for example, you may not have access to advanced light effects or specific settings. However, you still get comfortability, simplicity and flexibility.
Automations
Google Home also has a feature that I am sure you will love: customized automations. You will be able to combine different actions in one command. For example, every time you say ‘’good morning’’, the light will be switched on, the temperature will be adjusted and alarms set on your mobile phone will be off, all of this automatically, with no need to think about doing those things. Let’s say you are going to sleep and you are on your bed, you won’t need to leave your bed because you can say ‘’good night’’ and all electrical devices will be switched off, the air purifier will be activated and the Wi-Fi or NFC will be disconnected.
How comfortable are our lives getting? It’s surprising how technology has developed to the point that 2 words can do things that would take us a few minutes in just a matter of seconds. We don’t need to move from our beds or sofas when we want to adjust something. Google Home said to be the best option to manage your home because of all the features we previously mentioned, but we’ll see how well received it is by consumers.
