That’s the warning from D’Andre Clayton—delaying Social Security collection until age 70 is a risk few can afford to take, given actual life expectancy

Migrant people, you must be alert from now on. As we know, sadly Trump Administration wants to change how we (and they) understand migration, and now, the USCIS (Citizenship and Immigration Services) has sent an urgent alert to million of migrant that own a Green Card in our country. This is the last announcement they have made, and it sounds as a trigger alert: the permanent residence it is not a guaranteed right, even a privilege under the migrator laws… What does it mean? That it can be revoked if they detect any violation of the current regulation.

This is, of course, aligned with the migratory policies proposed by the President Donald Trump, who wants to make harder controls to the migrant population and detect, even with legal status in our country, those who can be a problem to the national security or to our countries (he calls them “public charge”)

They say this is an advice, but we know it hides an alert: resident people must be more cautelous than ever, not only in public actions but in private actions, due to, any behaviour government considers risky, could be translated into harder sanctions, visa cancelations or even the deportation (but we hope that this happens only in the most problematic situations). Let’s see how can affect you those statements.

What is a Green Card?

Green card is a document created by the federal government to give migrant people a status of permanent legality in our country. People owning one of this cards can live and work in U.S., travel to other countries (even there are some restrictions if are long-travels), get social benefits such as Medicare or SSA if they qualify or even, if they want, apply to the citizenship.

USCIS to tighten controls under Trump’s express order

Sorry my dear, but having a green card is not synonym now of security, they can revoke it if they consider you are committing a crime that does not align with what they understand as society

As Trump arrived again to the White house, migratory politics have suffered an immediate reinforcement, not only at controls, they ensure they are intensifying social media and digital platforms to guarantee the right behaviour of migrant people (wait, is it legal????)

After saying this, they made a reminder that green card is not permanent but revocable (if they consider it), because migrant people must act in accordance with the law the even if they have been living in this country many years or if they have some benefits approved.

More surveillance is… less tolerance.

It is not a secret that we are moving towards a less tolerable society, it is something we see everyday in our news or even in our cities. In this context, USCIS is also monitoring social media of migrant people to control them, arguing that they want to detect behaviour not permitted (such as being related to extreme ideologies, hate discourse, antisemitism discourses or similar). They have used those comments or publications to reject some requests.

Are you in risk?

USCIS is clear in its positions: even you own a green card, government has the authority and competences to change this: Frauds, lies on papers or crimes will not being allowed in the U.S.

And this, also affects many (migrant) students, who have suffered those changes while they were manifesting in favour of Palestine and against the sionist regime, they were aware about if they continued manifesting, their visas would be cancelled. And in fact, it happened.

USCIS message is clear: you are not untouchable, and, just for being a migrant, you will be object of numerous investigations, so please, be careful because this is not a game, they have endure their revisions and now there are stricter than ever.
