Apple’s iOS 26 is protecting your children. Parental control is one of the new features the new Apple operating system is incorporating. From now on, your child won’t talk to any stranger on new iPhones. Parents have shown their worry about the increase of technology used by children and teenagers, which makes communicating with strangers more possible. Not only parents have to worry about their children’s safety on the streets, but also on the internet.
In this article we will talk about the new iOS 26 parental control feature and how it works. So let’s get into it!
Technology and children era
We live in a time when children are familiar with technology from a very young age and this has some negative consequences. It’s true this will make children more comfortable with the future use of technology, but they are so young that anybody can take advantage of them. That’s why Apple is stepping up with a new parental control on their iOS 26 iPhones.
iOS 26 and ‘’Communication Limits’’
The most awaited feature of the new Apple iOS 26 for parents is the one called ‘’Communication Limits’’. From the time iOS 26 is launched, parents will be able to control who their children communicate with through the iPhones.
How does it work? When a child tries to send a message to a phone number he or she doesn’t have on their contacts list, the iOS 26 system automatically notifies the parents. This way parents can accept or reject that communication.
Only on iPhones
At the beginning, the ‘’Communication Limits’’ feature will only be available on the iMessage app from Apple, but the company is working on something called PermissionKit which will allow other apps developers to add this parental control to their own apps. We don’t know yet what apps will include this feature, but it’s an important step towards digital security for the youngest of the families.
It’s a matter of age
Apple is also launching another feature for your kids’ safety, improving control on the use of the iPhone depending on their ages. Now, it doesn’t matter if your kid hasn’t registered his or her account as a ‘’kid’s account’’ because iOS 26 will allow parents to apply age limits on apps and websites.
Apps will be classified according to age groups: 13+ (over 13 years old content), 16+ (older than 16 content) and 18+ (adult content, more than 18 years old). This will ease parents to know whether the app their kids want to use is accurate for their age or not.
Current technology era
Apple is updating features of their operating systems, in this case the iOS 26, to the new way children and teenagers digitally interact. Nowadays, the online world is getting more complex and dangerous because there are so many things we can do on the internet. It’s obvious we can’t separate kids from technology, but with features like the iOS 26 ‘’Communication Limits’’ are creating a healthier use of technology.
Kids using technology is very risky because most of them are so naive that any stranger can take advantage of them. The youngest generations have been born surrounded by technology and this is something we can’t leave out, it’s now used at schools, for entertainment and to have social interactions. However, we can teach them how to properly use technology and to identify when they are experiencing a dangerous situation.
That’s why the new iOS 26 feature is so beneficial for kids’ digital safety, but, apart from parents controlling how their kids use technology, there should be a great communication between children and parents. Would you apply the iOS 26 ‘’Communication Limits’’ feature on your children’s iPhones?
