The year is coming to an end and what many Americans are thinking about is not making their yearly TikTok recap, but whether there will be a stimulus check like in previous years. But unfortunately we have to tell you that no matter how much this news is being confirmed on social media, the IRS has not confirmed anything, so no, there will be no stimulus check this December.

No check, no new payments, no surprise deposits, and neither Congress nor the IRS has approved anything for the end of the year. What there is, is confusion and a lot of noise.

Are there any federal checks approved for December?

The answer is no, unfortunately. The last stimulus check was sent in 2021, and since then, any new payment requires a law approved by Congress. And in 2025, that has not happened. The IRS has confirmed that there are no federal payments approved, neither for inflation nor as general relief, absolutely nothing.

Where does all this confusion come from?

From previous payments that took place between 2024 and 2025. Some people were lucky enough to receive the Recovery Rebate Credit, for those who had not claimed their 2021 return, and those people did receive 1,400 dollars at the end of the year. But it was a one time program that has already ended and there is no second part.

The supposed “new IRS deposit”

The announcement is false. There is no official IRS announcement. In fact, the IRS itself has warned that scams to steal personal data are increasing. Remember that the IRS will never announce payments on social media and will never send you a text message asking for your information.

How to spot false information

Be suspicious of any message that arrives on your phone. If they ask you to verify your information or include an external link to confirm your check, distrust it immediately. Only trust official sources and official statements.

Trump’s “tariff dividend”

Another thing that has caused a lot of doubt are statements by Donald Trump talking about a possible payment of up to 2,000 dollars per person, funded by tariff revenue. But for now there is no approved program, it is only a political idea.

Will that check be real?

For now, as we are telling you, do not believe it too much. Economists and tax analysts agree that the numbers do not add up and that there is no active legal mechanism to distribute that money. Even the Treasury has clarified that if something ever materializes, it could be a future tax reduction, not a direct check.

More scams

The IRS has warned about a clear increase in frauds that promise payments that do not exist. Do not verify anything, do not confirm anything. As we say, trust only official IRS channels and official documents. They will never threaten you or send emails pressuring you.

Where can I get information?

Official IRS sources, the Department of the Treasury, or serious media with journalistic verification. The situation right now is not the best, and many people will try to take advantage of others’ needs, so be careful.

Remember that there are no confirmed checks, and when there are, they will only be announced through official channels. If someone promises you an immediate check, asks for your information, or talks about “confirmed” payments without official documents, it is not real. Be careful what you share and who you give your information to.
