It’s official—the U.S. government has issued a nationwide recall of products at Costco and Sam’s Club, and here’s what you should do if you bought them

If you’re looking to buy a new car, chances are you’ve sat down on the web to search for expert recommendations and videos to find out which one best suits your needs. Are you looking for something specific? If not, you know that the cheapest is what will catch your attention the most, but what happens when cheap is expensive?

Many buyers look at Kia or Hyundai models for days, but are they doing it right? These Korean manufacturers have gained a lot of popularity in recent years because they offer very modern designs with more than attractive technologies, but… is it enough? Many workers in the automotive industry say that they are not the best purchase option.

This mechanic has been at the forefront of workshops for 15 years and has now sounded the alarm bells. Are they really as bad as they say or is it just a bad streak for these brands?

What’s happening with KIA and Hyundai?

Both brands are ranked 6th and 7th in the best-selling cars nationwide. So why are they bad vehicles? Because even though they are very popular, they don’t have the best reputation, so to speak… They have been harshly criticized because they can be easily stolen and many other problems.

Mechanic’s opinion about them

Yonatan (@yon__atan), the mechanic we were talking about before, points out these brands as two brands that should be avoided at all costs and that he would not buy (not even for a modest second-hand price!!).

Yonatan explains in his video that, although they are cars with nice views, the engines, transmissions, and drive trains are of a terrible quality (he compares them to Temu or Wish, the cheap buying platforms).

He puts the 2020 Kia Telluride in the spotlight, which with only 50,000 miles already needs a new engine because metal shavings appeared that leaked into the engine leaving it practically unusable.

And the worst of all: Kia does not have the budget to replace all the vehicles that are having problems, so these vehicles can stay in the workshop for months waiting for a replacement.

On the other hand, he also highlights the recalls that both Kia and Hyundai have been forced to carry out due to the possibility of spontaneous fires (even when the cars were turned off, it’s crazy!!)

What do users think?

The video (which went viral quickly) has been filled with users sharing their experiences with KIA and Hyundai vehicles, where there are all kinds of opinions. From users who saw their car catch fire while parked (and not start) to users whose cars broke down while driving, exposing them to death. Other users directly talk about changing brands as soon as they can “I have a 2017 Tucson Limited, it burns oil and the DCT transmission works terribly, I will go back to Toyota” says one user.

Others talk about engines and batteries that have had to be replaced “Two 2015 Hyundai Sonatas scrapped and now another 2014 engine replaced” said another user.

So, Yonatan makes it very clear to us that cheap ends up being expensive, and perhaps it is more worthwhile to invest a little more in the initial purchase so as not to have to register at the garage and pay money every month. And you, what do you think of Yonatan’s recommendations?
