Pacsun, a very well-known clothes brand among youngsters and teenagers, is preparing a new growth stage. The company has confirmed that it’s planning on opening between 20 and 30 new stores in 2026, which is a great comeback for the brand inside the retailing sector.

Pacsun

Pacsun is an American clothes company founded in 1980 under the name of Pacific Sunwear. At the beginning, the brand mainly focused on beach clothes, but with the passage of time that changed.

Today, Pacsun is defined as a brand of young lifestyle. It sells clothes like jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and casual clothes mainly for teenagers and young adults, especially people between 16 and 24 years old.

Currently, Pacsun has more than 350 stores in the U.S., which proves it’s still a strong and well-known brand. At Pacsun stores you can also find products from other popular brands such as Adidas, Converse, Levi’s, Champion, Birkenstock, and many more!

New stores

The main reason why Pacsun wants to open new stores is that its business has been working very well for several consecutive trimesters. Even though the company hasn’t shown the exact amount of income, its executives have stated that the results have been positive and consistent.

Thanks to this stability, the responsible people of the brand feel that now is a great moment to grow. In fact, in 2025, Pacsun opened nine new stores, including some in the New York area. This shows that the expansion has already started and it’s not a plan for the future.

Pacsun has decided to change its view when choosing the location for the new stores. Instead of randomly choosing where to open the stores, the brand wants to be closer to its main customers, which is why it’s focusing on:

What’s more, the company is also considering going back to malls where there used to be stores, but they had to close when the malls lost popularity. Now, according to the brand, many malls have improved and have been modernized, which makes them attractive again.

Before, Pacsun avoided opening stores that were close to one another. The company thought that one store might take sales away from another nearby location. However, the brand has changed its mind after analyzing its performance and Pacsun discovered that opening a store 15 km from another doesn’t reduce sales, but it actually helps the brand reach more customers.

For this reason, they are not that worried anymore about keeping large distances between stores. Yet, the company continues being careful and focusing on a strategy when choosing locations that connect well with their customers.

Physical stores

An interesting point is that Pascun has noticed that its physical stores are working even better than the online sales. Many customers visit the stores looking for products they saw on TikTok, Pacsun’s website, or posts on social media. This shows that social media creates interest, but many people still prefer seeing and trying clothes in person.
