Plugging in stuff and unplugging them once they are charged or not going to be used anymore, is a common action in most houses. Avoiding this we could save money or even have less possibilities of causing a domestic accident. So, if you don’t want to be one of these people, keep reading to find out what you can do!

Plugging in and your wallet

Nowadays, we are used to using the devices plugged in because they are one of the most entertaining things for us since we have our social media, games, movies, etc. However, you should be careful with this action because even though we leave the plugs in and are not connected to any device, we are still consuming energy. This also happens when the devices are off or even in a pause mode, for example, the tv is not being used but plugged in or in a pause mode when a certain amount of time goes by.

So, check out around your house to not increase your electricity bill. At the end of the year you would save hundreds of dollars so every minor change counts.

Your smartphone can burn your house

Another negative impact of leaving things connected is fire. Yes, you’ve read right, some devices overheat and can produce errors inside them. For instance, if you leave your smartphone plugged in for a long time, it may cause this fire. Try to touch the back of your smartphone and check if the battery is getting hotter, then you should be very careful and only plug it in when it is necessary.

Are you contributing to the environmental pollution?

Unfortunately, yes. Let’s have in mind all the data previously mentioned to explain why this is happening. Of course, everytime we plug something in we are consuming energy which produces the burning of fossil fuels, the main cause of air pollution and climate change – among others. This consumed energy would translate into wasted natural resources when we are wasting energy by leaving devices plugged in.

Fire is also key in the pollution of our planet, the more technical problems we have due to overheating of our devices the more new devices we will buy and, therefore, we are making use of more energy and materials so that you can have your new gadgets.

Not much of an effort for your wellbeing

If you think about it, it isn’t that hard to unplug something. Let’s say you are charging your tablet, so once it’s fully charged you just unplug it and you can use it without consuming energy. There are some benefits about this small action because, after reading this, you will be much safer and calmer once you leave your house or go to bed. Nothing will be possibly dangerous around your house if you unplug them.

So, to sum up, this common action of leaving gadgets connected in your house is more dangerous and risky for our houses, our economy and our planet Earth. Next time you plug something in, think twice and it will take you 2 seconds to make a difference in all these aspects. It will take you a while to get used to this new routine, but, in the end, if most people start doing it it will mean so much.

Having all this in mind, you should maybe share this information with your friends, family and colleges to let them know about this and do the good deed of your day!
