Do you know those days when you crave a Big Mac but you don’t want to go out for it? Or you don’t want to bother the delivery guy to bring it to you? Well, today we bring you the recipe for the sauce of this popular burger. Yes, that secret sauce that nobody knows what it has has finally been revealed, one of the best kept secrets in history along with the creation of the pyramids.

The famous Big Mac

Delicious, popularized by McDonald’s all over the world, a Big Mac is synonymous with delight, and thousands of people have tried to replicate its taste from home, and they have achieved something similar, even with more flavor, but not the original. Now, you can make this iconic burger with its special sauce so that it comes out exactly the same as the one you get when you receive your Big Mac at McDonald’s, the key is in the proportions!

The secret is in the sauce

A Big Mac doesn’t have much mystery, meat, lettuce and pickles. But the sauce makes it special, and although it seemed very mysterious it is very easy to make and thanks to the recipe shared by McDonald’s Canada you can make it yourself:

  • 2 parts mayonnaise
  • 1 part mustard
  • 1 part crushed sweet pickles (it is better with relish, but if you can’t find it, crush the pickles yourself)
  • 1 part seasonings: 2 parts sweet paprika, 1 garlic powder and 1 onion powder.
  • Add a few drops of white wine vinegar and mix! Just don’t overdo it with the vinegar.

Your perfect homemade Big Mac

You know this burger has three layers, the bottom, the middle and the top, well, we are going to show you how to assemble your perfect burger: bun, sauce, onion, lettuce, cheese and meat, the middle bun (improvise!!) more sauce, don’t skimp, onion, lettuce, pickles, meat and finally, the top bun.

The key is to use good quality beef and cook it on the grill to the right point, we assure you that the taste is infinitely better than the original!

What to serve with my Big Mac?

Of course, a Big Mac is not a Big Mac without its sides, homemade fries made with patience so they are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, maybe a salad also fits perfectly, but here we are very McDonald’s and we are going to show you how to make Deluxe fries with their Deluxe sauce, Watch out, McDonald’s!!

Homemade deluxe fries

  • 4-5 medium potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Wash the potatoes well, peel them if you prefer (although with skin they look more rustic) and cut them into thick wedges.
  2. Soak the wedges in cold water for about 30 minutes.
  3. Drain and dry well with a cloth.
  4. Mix in a bowl the oil with all the spices: sweet paprika, smoked paprika, garlic, onion, oregano, salt and pepper.
  5. Put the potatoes in the bowl and stir until all the wedges are well coated with the spice mix.
  6. Preheat the oven to about 220 °C (200 °C if with fan).
  7. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, turning them over at 15 minutes, until golden and crispy on the outside, soft inside.

  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard or coarse-grain mustard
  • 1 tablespoon crème fraîche (or thick sour cream)
  • 1 egg yolk (optional, to give more body)
  • ½ teaspoon vinegar or pickle juice
  • Salt, pepper to taste
  • (Optional) Some very fine pieces of pickle or onion for texture
