The popular grocery store chain Publix has made an announcement: it will open 5 new stores in November. These new stores will be located in Florida (4 stores) and Tennessee (1 store). This is part of Publix’ strategy to grow, in fact, the company has opened new stores in several places of the country in the last couple of months.
The company has gained a great reputation among customers for offering good prices, fresh products, and a nice environment. Many have even compared it to Walmart or Dollar General, but with a more comfortable and familiar experience. So, let’s learn more about this strategy.
Where and when
According to the comapny’s official announcement, all the new stores will open before the end of November. Let’s see where and when they will open:
- Lakeland, Florida – 4730 S Florida Ave. – Opens November 13
- Saint Augustine, Florida – 1033 A1A Beach Blvd. – Opens November 13
- Ponte Vedra, Florida – 75 Irondale Rd., Suite 100 – Opens November 15

These new stores join the more than 1,400 Publix stores that already exist in the entire U.S.
Publix keeps growing every month
This growth is not new, in September, the company had already opened 6 new stores in several states: Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. Months before, in May, Publix had announced other new locations in Kentucky, Florida, Charlotte, and North Carolina.
Publix is currently the fourth largest grocery store chain in North Carolina, behind Food Lion, Harris Teeter and Walmart. But this could change soon, since the company is planning on opening 5 more stores in this state.
Florida
Publix started in Florida, where it has more of its stores. In fact, almost 900 out of 1,400 stores are in Florida. The company keeps putting its faith in opening more stores in different parts of the state, especially in places with a lot of population growth. Now, let’s see how the stores will be distributed among the 8 southeast states of the U.S.:
- Alabama – 94 stores
- Florida – 878 stores
- Georgia – 219 stores
- Kentucky – 3 stores
- North Carolina – 57 stores
- South Carolina – 70 stores
- Tennessee – 59 stores
- Virginia – 24 stores
For example, in Palm Beach County, Publix opened a new store on May 1 and it was smaller than usual: 33,000 square feet, when the average measure is from 45,000 to 50,000 square feet. A week after, on May 8, the company opened another store in Palm Beach Gardens of 54,000 square feet.
Customers
As Publix grows, its popularity among customers does too. On social media, many people comment their satisfaction with the stores. One customer on Facebook compared Publix to other large chains, writing:
“I just left Publix and spent less than I would have at Walmart or Dollar General on the same items. You just have to shop the sales! Publix has some really great deals most weeks.”
The positive comments show why the company has gained many customers’ loyalty: good prices, friendly employees, and high-quality products, which makes grocery shopping a more pleasant experience.
So…
Even though Publix competes with giants like Walmart, Publix continues to stand out thanks to its great customer service, competitive prices, and community spirit.
As Publix keeps growing, it remains a favorite for millions of shoppers who trust its quality and love its friendly atmosphere. For many families, it isn’t just a grocery store — it is a place where quality, affordability, and community come together.
