Santa Clarita wants to be the Mecca of the mountain biking in Californi! And they’re trying with the opening of the Haskell Canyon Bike Park, a 720-acre space that promises to revolutionize the experience for cyclists of all levels, we love it! With a $7.4 million investment, the park will feature 15 miles of trails, training areas for beginners, downhill tracks, jumps, berms, and more and more!

This ambitious project (because it really is ambitious) is the first of its type in Southern California and will open in December 2025 Are you ready for it?.

What is Santa Clarita?

Located about 55 kilometers northwest of Los Angeles, it is known for being one of the safest communities with the highest quality of life in the metropolitan area. And the most interesting thing about this area is that it has hiking and biking trails that are also very popular around here, so in recent years it has become an attractive destination for those looking for outdoor activities without going too far from Los Angeles!

A place for everyone (even if you’ve never ridden a bike)

The Haskell Canyon Bike Park has been designed so that anyone can enjoy it, no matter their previous experience (thank goodness! Because we’ve never done something like this!). From flat areas for beginners to technical circuits for advanced riders, this place allows you to progress and take on new challenge!. So you can enjoy it whether, like us, you’ve never been on a bike or you’re a two-wheel master!

Jess Albrecq, a city representative thinks that the goal is to offer a place where beginners can learn the basics and, over time, take on jumps, descents, and more complex tracks.

15 miles of pure adrenaline

The park will have a perimeter trail that surrounds the entire area, plus single-tracks, flow lines for descents, jumps, berms, and rollers, wow! Every section has been planned by Avid Trails, the company in charge of the design and construction to ensure quality and safety.

There’s no place like this in California

Tony Arnold, a regular user of trails in Santa Clarita, points out that there is no place like this in the region, so it will be so special!

What does the cycling community say?

The hype is everywhere!! And if you’re a fan of two wheels… This news is great for you. Professional cyclist and Santa Clarita native Spencer Rathkamp says this park will be a boost for the sport and an example of how public investment can strengthen community life.

“This park is going to be amazing,” he said. “The fact that the city is willing to invest so much money means it believes in what mountain biking can bring to the community.”

Opening and future projection

The Haskell Canyon Bike Park will officially open in December 2025, Its combination of high-level infrastructure, free access, and variety of trails positions it as a project set to grow and attract sporting events, training, and active tourism.

Santa Clarita not only adds another attraction to its leisure offering, but also places itself on the international map of mountain biking!
