A new month means all Social Security payments are being issued again, so if you’re one of those people eagerly waiting for the month to begin to receive your check, here it is!
This Wednesday, July 9, SSA beneficiaries will receive approximately $2,002.39! And this is the first round of deposits for the month, following the official schedule established by the Social Security Administration, as always.
Who receives the payment on July 9?
In case you didn’t know, the SSA distributes payments on three different Wednesdays, depending on the beneficiary’s date of birth. They do this to avoid overlapping payments and to ensure they reach everyone correctly.
- Wednesday, July 9 (second Wednesday of the month): born between the 1st and the 10th.
- Wednesday, July 16 (third Wednesday of the month): born from the 11th to the 20th.
- Wednesday, July 23 (fourth Wednesday of the month): born from the 21st to the 31st.
This July 9 corresponds to the first group of the month. And yes, the payments are sent automatically (and arrive earlier if you’re enrolled in direct deposit, which means the payment goes straight into your bank account) or through a physical check (although that’s about to end, be careful!).
And what about those who don’t get paid on Wednesdays?
Don’t worry about that. If you don’t receive your payment this Wednesday, you’ll get it the next one. It all depends on your birthday (or the type of benefit you receive, of course), but you won’t be left without your money!
Some people receive their checks on other dates:
- Those who started receiving benefits before May 1997 get their money on the 3rd of each month, regardless of their birth date, right on time.
- Beneficiaries of the SSI program (Supplemental Security Income), designed for people with low income, disabilities, or over 65 years old, get paid on the 1st of each month.
- Those who receive both benefits (SSI and regular Social Security) get the SSI on July 1 and the regular payment on July 3.
How much money does Social Security pay?
It all depends on each person’s situation, but the average check for a retiree is $2,002.39 per month, with the maximum reaching up to $5,108!
What other monthly payments are there and how much are they?
- Disabled (SSDI): $1,581.97
- Survivors (widows/widowers, dependent children): $1,566.66
- SSI: $718.30
Thanks to this system, millions of people can cover their expenses every month without falling below the poverty line, from essential bills to medical expenses. Let’s never forget what SSA is for!
And yes, the schedule is intentionally staggered to ease the administrative load and make sure every user receives their payment on time!
How to know if your check has already been deposited?
Very easy. The simplest way to check if the money is already in your account is by logging into your My Social Security profile at the official site ssa.gov, but you can also call by phone or check your bank for the payment status!
Check your birth date and verify your payment
Remember, a new payment arrives each month, and it’s vital to stay informed and keep your information up to date (otherwise, the money won’t arrive, be careful!!!!).
This July 9, the lucky ones receiving their payment will be those born between the 1st and the 10th. But if that’s not you, don’t worry, it’ll just be a couple more weeks! And above all, we thank the SSA for working so hard so that millions of Americans can receive their money!
