It’s a new year and Social Security payments are starting again. For people who rely entirely on these types of payments, it’s especially important to know when their payments will arrive in 2025.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will be able to breathe easy thanks to the fact that they have already published the payment schedule that will guarantee that the funds will reach all users on time (even when the usual dates coincide with holidays or weekends).

Below we are going to leave you with all the details you need to know so you can plan for these dates and not miss any.

Advance payments in 2025

SSI recipients will notice a change in their 2025 payment schedule, not because they will add payments, but because they will make sure that the payments arrive on time. This adjustment will include five changes in which the payment will be made in advance (generating months that will seem like double payments). However, we already know that these are not double payments, but rather those that coincide with holidays and bank holidays. This happens because the administration does not want payments to arrive late or be delayed to any of its beneficiaries, so they will issue them earlier for this very reason.

What will these key changes be?

For the SSI in 2025 the calendar will continue as it is now (delivering its payments on the first of each month), however those months that coincide with a holiday or Sunday will be advanced.

This is what will happen on December 31, 2024 (which will be the payment corresponding to January 1, 2025), May 30, 2025 (which will correspond to June), August 29, 2025 (which will correspond to the September payment), October 31 (as a correspondence for the November payment) and December 31 (as a payment corresponding to January 2026).

Remember that this does not mean that they are extra income, even though they may seem that way. It is simply an adjustment to the calendar to ensure that all payments arrive on time and are not delayed so as not to cause any inconvenience to the beneficiaries who need this payment so much.

What does this mean for beneficiaries?

It means that their payment will arrive one or two days before the estimated date (1st of each month) so it will be crucial for them to plan well for those two days because for one month they will not receive another payment, that is, after the beneficiaries receive, for example, the payment on December 31st, the next one will not be given until February 1st. So it will be necessary for them to plan properly to avoid stress at the end of the month.

Are there any changes to this year’s payments?

As you may already know, each Social Security payment comes with the addition of the COLA (Cost Of Adjustment Living), a small percentage that is added to each payment from the SSA to mitigate the effects of inflation and not affect the purchasing power of users. Thus, this year (2025) will come with 2.5% more to each payment (last year it was 3.2% but this is a result of changes in the prices of essential goods and depends on the CPI-W).

This adjustment will already be reflected from this month of December (2024), with the first payment made in 2025.

The SSA calendar reflects the commitment to beneficiaries, as they are fully aware that millions of users in the United States depend on them to survive each month, so it is important that you take your own calendar and start organizing yourself with the payments you are going to receive, and, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to visit the official website of the Social Security Administration to resolve your doubts!
