The SSDI payment schedule for December 2024 is now available, so just look at it to find out when your payment will arrive. But don’t worry, although you can look at it by clicking here, we are going to leave you the most important information here, so that everything is much clearer for you to understand.
What is SSDI?
It is Social Security Disability Insurance and is a federal program that offers monthly assistance to those who are unable to work. It is not just any payment, but is specifically designed for those people who have already worked previously (i.e., who have contributed their taxes to the Administration).
Which payments have to arrive in December?
Let’s go step by step, the calendar is divided into three groups to issue payments, and the choice of these groups is not random, but rather divides the beneficiaries depending on the day of the month in which they were born, so, pay attention to the following:
By the date we are on, two payments must have been made, those born between the 1st and the 10th of each month, which will have arrived on December 11 (remember that this date is not chosen at random, every second Wednesday of each month this group of people receives their payment). Those born between the 11th and the 20th of each month will have received their check on December 18th (as always, the third Wednesday of each month), and finally, the group born between the 21st and 31st of each month, which is the one that has not yet received their payment and is waiting because it is coming soon! This group will receive their payment next Tuesday, December 24th, as the 25th coincides with a national holiday (because it is Christmas), so this group will see their payment one day in advance.
Does the SSA change the payment date if it coincides with a holiday?
Exactly, the SSA works to ensure that each user’s checks arrive as accurately as possible, which is why when a delivery date coincides with a national holiday, they move the date forward one day, so that users do not have to wait two or three days for the money to arrive (because we already know that when there is a national holiday, things usually take a little longer to arrive). So, since the SSA knows that these payments are absolutely necessary for their beneficiaries, they prefer to advance the payment one day earlier so that it arrives on time and no one notices the lack.
This December, it will happen twice, for those who receive the payment on December 24th, and for those who receive other SSA payments, for January 1st, which will be sent on December 31st (so, since it arrives a day early, it will seem like it is an extra payment for 2024 but, it is not!!) It is your first payment of 2025, remember that so there are no surprises later!!
What do I do if my payment hasn’t arrived?
First of all, don’t panic, it will most likely arrive soon. The SSA recommends waiting a minimum of three days. If these days pass and your payment hasn’t arrived, you can call the SSA phone number (1-800-772-1213), which offers free customer service (available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM).
In the meantime, you can verify that your information is correct in your SSA online profile.
So, now you have all the information you need to organize your December payments in the most effective way you think is convenient. Remember that the payment calendar is defined from one year to the next and that the 2025 calendar is already available. You no longer have an excuse to say that you cannot take care of your personal finances!!
