Neither Honda nor Mazda – Toyota dominates in 2025 and consolidates its position as the world’s best-selling brand for this reason

No more blindly taking your car to the repair shop every time the warning light comes on—learning to read the Check Engine light changes the way you take care of your car in the United States

It’s official—robotaxis are gaining ground in the United States, with Waymo leading the way and Tesla accelerating its commitment

In the automotive world, it is not unusual to see that from time to time the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) releases a statement that a vehicle is failing and has to go to the workshop to be fixed. But everything changes when we talk about Toyota, one of the most reliable brands on the market, which draws more attention.

What has happened?

The Japanese giant has been involved in the recall of more than 140,000 vehicles of its Toyota and Lexus brands because problems have been detected in the brakes and seat belts, a real tragedy.

So, if you are the owner of a Toyota, your vehicle could be part of this recall. Toyota has warned that this problem could compromise the safety of the vehicle’s occupants, so it is highly recommended to go to a dealership as soon as possible.

Which models are included in the recall?

There have been several vehicles involved in this scandal, all of which are made between 2024 and 2025, and they are the following models:

  • Toyota Camry (2025)
  • Lexus NX (2025)
  • Lexus RX (2024-2025)
  • Toyota Tacoma 4WD (2024-2025)

If you have any of these models, do not hesitate to check on the official Toyota website (or in the NHTSA database) whether or not your vehicle is included in the recall using your vehicle’s VIN number. Remember that your safety is at risk!!!

What problems does each model have?

On the one hand, the Toyota Tacoma can suffer premature wear in the rear brake hoses, this means that it might not brake properly when necessary and increase the risk of accidents. On the part of the Camry and Lexus, the seat belts in the second row of seats seem to be not properly secured, so the safety of passengers at risk of collision would be completely absent.

What do I do as an owner?

Very easy, wait for the notification that Toyota will begin sending to affected customers at the beginning of April, but you can speed up the process by contacting Lexus or Toyota customer service.

Will the repairs cost money?

No! Toyota and Lexus will take care of whatever the repairs cost, logically, because it is a manufacturing defect and the users are not to blame. We recommend that you schedule a visit to the dealer as soon as possible so that they can change whatever is defective as soon as possible.

What is the VIN number?

The Vehicle Identification Number is a unique sequence of numbers and letters that each vehicle has from the moment it leaves the factory. There are no two alike in the world and it serves exactly the same purpose as our state identification. It is used to find out the country of manufacture, the year, the model, what type of engine it has and even the history behind it! It is always advisable to check it when you are going to buy a second-hand vehicle or, as in this case, to check if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall or not.

Where can I find the VIN number on my vehicle?

There are several places inside your car that have the VIN number included even if you haven’t noticed, on the dashboard of the car (although you will have to look from the outside), on the frame of the driver’s door, just when you open the door and in the engine compartment (this does not happen in all vehicles). The VIN number also appears in your vehicle’s documentation, in case you can’t find it inside your car.

Will this recall affect Toyota’s reliability?

Toyota has been leading all reliability rankings for years, and we believe that with the speed with which they have acted on this recall, they will continue to lead the charts. It is true that no one likes to find out that their vehicle has put them at risk on many occasions, but the important thing is that they are already trying to solve the problems they have found in their vehicles.

Remember to make an appointment at your dealership as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary risks.
