Getting on a plane and knowing how to fasten your seatbelt is basic, but there is something even more basic, knowing how to behave on a flight. It is not complicated, right? It does not seem so, yet many people forget it and shout, insult, or cause a scene in the middle of the flight. Cabin crew workers are already tired of putting up with this type of behavior, so the TSA has decided to impose new rules, so much so that the latest case has gone very viral.

A Frontier Airlines passenger has been fined 25,500 dollars after starring in an altercation that was a real nightmare during the flight. And the worst part is that this has not happened just once, it seems to be something that happens quite often and people are already tired of it.

Flights that turn into chaos

What happened, according to authorities, was an embarrassment. Shouting, insults, kicking, food flying through the cabin, and as if that were not enough, one passenger locked herself in the bathroom for more than half an hour, ignoring the crew’s instructions.

She even received the famous “red card”, a formal warning that makes it clear that she must stop, but even so, this passenger continued provoking and disrespecting the flight staff. Police intervention was required upon landing and she was fined 25,000 dollars. Hopefully she will never forget how not to behave on a flight.

What is the “red card”?

Just like in soccer, it is the last warning. When the crew issues it, the message is that you have to stop or there will be serious consequences, fines, possible legal charges, and many problems when it comes to flying again.

Zero tolerance

The TSA has once again stressed that any behavior that interferes with the work of the crew, whether verbal or physical, will be punished. In the most serious cases, fines can exceed 80,000 dollars. No one can put a flight or the control of an aircraft at risk. There is no room for negotiation and they cannot allow this to become something “funny” for social media, because many lives are at stake on every flight.

The problem does not start only on the plane

Be careful, because fines are not limited to what happens on board. There will also be fines at security checkpoints if there are threats or shouting, and they can reach up to 17,000 dollars. You do not have to take out your bad day on someone else.

Being tired does not justify anything

Delays, cancellations, endless lines, yes, traveling nowadays can be desperate, but nothing justifies disrespect. The law will expressly protect cabin crew and security staff. Losing your temper is no longer an excuse. We are adults.

A problem that is still there

You may think it is a joke, but just this year more than 1,500 incidents with disruptive passengers have been recorded. It is less than the chaos of 2021, when there were more than 6,000, but it is still a lot and it has become a real problem.

There is an even worse case than the one we have told you about, where the highest fine to date was issued, 81,950 dollars. They tried to open the plane door mid flight and there were direct assaults on the crew. We are no longer talking about bad manners, but about creating a real danger for the entire flight.

Be careful, because the consequences do not end with paying a fine. In more serious cases there may even be criminal proceedings, flight bans, or even prison.

Special warning for holidays and long weekends

There will be no exceptions for holidays or high stress seasons. Keeping calm is essential because we are human beings, not animals in a jungle. Respect is not negotiable under any circumstances. It is not complicated, respect the rules, the crew, and the other passengers.
