The American company is not only opening Walmart stores, but also transforming stores they have already open. The company wants to compete against other successful stores in the country and they are trying to improve every aspect they can. Let’s see what’s the reason behind this increase in stores and where they will be.
Walmart
Walmart is one of the most popular and successful stores in the United States. It was founded in 1962 by Sam Walton in Arkansas, and it has experienced a commercial expansion since then becauase of a trade strategy.
Here, you can buy anything you can imagine, from food and toys to furniture and medicine. They offer the possibility of buying at their multiple stores or doing it from the comfort of your house, by using their online app.
Commercial expansion strategy
Walmart has expanded in more than 20 countries like Chile, Argentina, and even China. However, the company wants to improve their trade strategy in the U.S. where they have their main commerce activity.
Walmart is planning to open 6 stores – 5 Walmart stores and 1 Sam’s Club one – before Labor Day, so that will be before September. From this date, the U.S. will increase the Walmart presence in its country.
Apart from opening 6 stores, they want to create a new appearance for the stores already open. This strategy started in 2023, since then they have been transforming more than 650 stores in 47 states of the U.S., and they seek to build 150 stores before 2028.
Neighborhood Markets and Supercenters, where can you find them?

Walmart Neighborhood Centers are small stores thought for quick shopping and it will focus on supermarket, pharmacy and everyday products. You could find these types of stores inTuscaloosa, Alabama; Milton, Florida; and Pace, Florida.
Then, we have another option named Walmart Supercenter, which is the biggest store of the company. They will include a huge range of products from electronic devices to clothes, anything you can think of you can find here. These are the places where this store will be open: Mountain View, California and Eagle Mountain, Utah.
Sam’s Club
This store is similar to Costco, in the sense of allowing you to buy here if you have a membership with Walmart, the Sam’s Club. Here, you could buy wholesale with your annual membership.
There are over 600 Sam’s Clubs already in the United States, but the company wants to increase this number by building 15 of them every year. The new Sam’s Club that will be open this Summer, could be found in Tempe, Arizona.
It is no secret that companies are always competing against each other and paying attention to new strategies other stores are coming up with. However, if these changes are beneficial for us, the clients, it’s all good.
