It's official - Walmart teams up with Wienerschnitzel and ushers in a new era of fast food inside its stores - here's how it will affect you if you live in the U.S.

Walmart has partnered with another fast food chain! Now you will be able to have more options, other than McDonald’s, Subway and Taco Bell,  when you are so tired from shopping. Wienerschnitzel will be offering their signature chili dogs and corn dogs at Walmart stores. This decision will be open to customers this year and it will be first found in states like Washington, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and California. This collaboration seems positive for customers, so let’s see more about this move to Walmart!

From traditional roots to popular retail store

Wienerschnitzel has been a popular fast food restaurant on the West Coast for over 6 decades, so they are not new in the food industry as you can see. They started in California and their reputation increased because people loved their classic American-style hot dogs, chili fries, and corn dogs. They might have a simple menu, but their customers were very satisfied with it.

However, the context has changed from when they started: the number of restaurants are increasing, which makes it more difficult to stand out, and customers demand new things. That’s why Wienerschnitzel has teamed up with Walmart, one of the biggest retailers in the U.S.

Inside Walmart

Picture this: you go to Walmart to do some shopping and you spend a lot of time there and, suddenly, you start feeling hungry. You won’t need to worry because Walmart has a selection of fast food restaurants available inside their stores, and Wienerschnitzel is one of those. What will this restaurant offer customers? Their classic full menu: classic hot dogs, chili cheese fries and corn dogs.

So, no more grab-and-go food with no flavor, you will be able to taste the same food as in their traditional restaurants, but in a retail store.

Where could you find it?

The partnership has been very well thought of because Wienerschnitzel will first be located in 6 specific states where the company hasn’t had much success. Why is this? Because this will mean a chance to increase their popularity with new customers, but still reconnect with their most loyal ones. This decision is expected to begin this fall in:

  • Washington (Puyallup)
  • New Mexico (Alamogordo)
  • Arizona (Tempe)
  • Nevada (Reno)
  • Colorado (Colorado Springs)
  • California (Bakersfield)

Retail fast food trend

Of course, Wienerschnitzel isn’t the first fast food restaurant joining Walmart. I’m sure you have eaten at McDonald’s, Subway or Taco Bell when you were shopping at this retail store. However, Wienerschnitzel is offering a different menu from the other food restaurants.

Some people might think this is a risky decision since it’s competing against big names in the same Walmart stores, but this is a smart move.

Consumers’ needs

Nowadays people expect to eat something quick and with a tasty flavor. This is normally related to bad-quality food, but Wienerschnitzel is proving the opposite. What’s more, this restaurant is putting its faith in their popular chili dog and corn dog, which many people have loved for many years.

More of these collaborations in the future?

I am sure we will. We are experiencing a new era of fast food in retail stores, as you have seen, Walmart is very experienced in these types of partnerships. We will experience more restaurants joining retail stores because customers want comfort, and what’s more comfortable than having something delicious to eat at the same place you are shopping?

So, next time you go to Walmart in one of the states we previously mentioned, pay attention if you see a Wienerschnitzel restaurant and try their famous hot dogs. Will you have a go and try it?
