WhatsApp is being updated, again! This time the popular app is trying to improve their calling function for iPhone (iOS) and Android. This app is very used among most people because it is the way we communicate now, via messages, and with this new update we won’t need anything else to have a conversation with someone. Making phone calls by using WhatsApp will be much easier, faster and safer than usual.

The arrival of WhatsApp into our world

WhatsApp is a free app that allows you to talk and chat with anyone via text, voice and video messages, and share pictures, videos and even your location. This app is owned by Meta Platforms Inc. (before known as Facebook Inc.) and came to our lives in 2009.

Nowadays social networks are an important part of our lives. Every time we want to look for entertainment, news, information or just chat with a friend we make use of social networks and social media too. WhatsApp is one of the most popular social network apps used in the world for many reasons: it is free, easy to use, no ads and it is compatible with many platforms like iOS, Web, Android, etc.

Sometime updates work

WhatsApp is always searching for new updates to make users’ experience much better. These sometimes are not well received by users, but WhatsApp tests the new ideas and sees how they could be changed or discarded.

One of the greatest examples of a successful update is the inclusion of 24 hours posts, like Instagram’s stories, which have been used a lot by WhatsApp users. Let’s focus on the new features you will be able to use now.

In-app call dialer

The new WhatsApp update has to do with the calling function. Now you will have an in-app call dialer, so that you can write the phone number and call it immediately. Also, you will be warned if this number is associated with a WhatsApp account. This way you save steps like adding a new phone number to your contacts and then looking for it on WhatsApp. Too many steps for the current time!

Floating window

From now on, you don’t need to wait to end a call to answer your WhatsApp messages. Imagine being on a call with your friend and you receive an important message, you won’t need to stop talking to your friend to answer the message. The floating window is the new feature that will allow you to do this and make the most of the app in a very easy way. Now you can do two things at the same time!

Adding numbers to you contacts

Thanks to the new in-app call dialer you can call a number you don’t have on your contacts, but after that call you will be asked if you want to save it as a contact. This will be very useful because sometimes we tend to postpone adding new numbers to our contacts, and this way we will do it immediately.

Do you want to have this call function?

It is very easy! Let’s explain how you can start calling from WhatsApp and using the different new features:

First of all, you need to have the app updated otherwise you won’t see any new features. Then, you go to the app and enter callings, there you will find a phone icon with a ‘+’ sign. This is where you will see 3 options: create a call link, call a phone number and new contact. Go to the calling a phone number option to write the number and once WhatsApp checks it is WhatsApp number your call will start.

Nowadays we are very dependent on WhatsApp to communicate with others, so every update is going to be welcomed. We are in constant demand for new features to make our experience much easier. Let’s see what’s people’s reaction to this!
